Support for Okaya - Family Peace of Mind (iOS 17+)

Contact us

Email customer-care@velorahealth.io and we will reply within 2 business days. Include the word "Okaya" in the subject and, if it helps, which phone the problem shows on (the parent's or a family member's). Never include passwords or health details in email.

Getting started

How do I connect with my parent?

Download Okaya on both phones. On yours, choose "I want peace of mind about someone", create your family space and send the invite by iMessage, QR code or 6-digit code. On her phone, the invite opens a short consent flow where she chooses what to share. Nothing is shared until she agrees.
Troubleshooting

The invite link isn't working on my parent's phone

Invite links expire after 72 hours and can only be used once. Ask the family member who created it to send a fresh one, or use the 6-digit code instead: it is shown on the same invite screen and can be typed directly into the app.

Her check-in notification isn't appearing

On the parent's phone, check Settings -> Okaya -> Notifications and make sure notifications are allowed. Also check that Focus or Do Not Disturb is not silencing Okaya in the morning window.

Health data isn't showing on my dashboard

Two switches control this: the parent's HealthKit permission (Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Health -> Okaya on her phone) and her per-category sharing switches inside Okaya. If she has turned a category off, the app tells you honestly that it can see less; that is by design and only she can turn it back on.

I subscribed but Family features are locked

Open the plan screen and tap Restore Purchases on the phone belonging to the family member who pays. Make sure that phone is signed in with the Apple ID that purchased the subscription.

Is the Silence Alarm really free?

Yes. The full Silence Alarm, every escalation stage, the daily check-in, Peace Score and SOS are free on every plan, forever - even if a subscription lapses. Safety is never behind the paywall.

Does Okaya work if my parent is in another country?

Yes, as long as both of you have iPhones on iOS 17 or later and an internet connection. Phone numbers are stored with country codes, so the Call button and emergency numbers work across borders.

How do I delete our family's data?

The space owner can close the space in Settings, or the parent can delete her account on her own phone. Production data is deleted within 30 days. You can also email us to exercise deletion or export rights.
Good to know

Okaya is a family wellness app, not a medical device or emergency service. It never calls 911 automatically and does not guarantee detection of every incident. In an emergency, always call your local emergency number first.
