Common questions

A food I searched says avoid, but my doctor said it is fine

Follow your doctor. They know your case and the app does not. The food answers are general guidance for a typical recovery stage, drawn from published sources, and individual advice always takes priority over a general list.

The app will not let me move to the next stage

It never moves you automatically, and it never blocks you either. Tap I'm feeling better when you are ready and it advances. If you are unsure whether you should, that is exactly the moment to call your clinician rather than an app.

I am in a lot of pain right now

Please stop reading and contact your doctor or your local emergency number. Severe or worsening pain, fever, bleeding, or being unable to keep liquids down all need medical assessment today. The app cannot tell you what is happening in your abdomen and will not try.

Can I still eat nuts and seeds after I recover?

Large studies do not support lifelong avoidance, and the app explains what that research actually found. They are only left out during one temporary stage. As always, your own clinician's advice comes first.

I paid but the app still asks me to unlock

Open the unlock screen and tap Restore Purchases, and make sure the device is signed in with the Apple Account that made the purchase. The unlock is a one-time purchase, so restoring is free and works on all your devices.

The text is too small for me

Turn on larger text in Settings, then Display and Brightness, then Text Size, or in Accessibility for the largest sizes. The app is built to grow with those settings rather than clip the text.

How do I stop sharing with my caregiver?

Open Settings, then Caregiver and turn it off. Access stops immediately, and you do not have to explain it to anyone.
Good to know

Diverticulitis Coach helps you follow the diet plan your doctor recommends. It does not diagnose any condition, it cannot tell you whether you are having a flare, and it is not a substitute for medical care. Clinical content is based on Mayo Clinic, NHS, UCSF and AGA guidance, with sources shown in the app. If you have severe pain, a fever, bleeding, or cannot keep liquids down, contact your doctor or emergency services now.
