Common questions
My conversion failed or is taking a long time.
A conversion normally finishes in a couple of minutes, and a long or unusually dense recording takes longer. If it fails, the two usual reasons are a recording the separator could not pull apart cleanly, and a song without an audible drum part, which the app declines on purpose rather than inventing a chart. If the same file keeps failing, send it to us and we will look at it.
The chart has hits in the wrong place.
In places it will. The app is listening to a recording rather than reading a score. Kick and snare are the reliable part; hi-hats go missing on a dense mix and the most detailed level is labelled a draft for that reason. Drop to Backbone or Groove, which leave out most of what a machine gets wrong, and fix the rest with the hit editor. If a whole section is nonsense rather than approximate, tell us which song and roughly where.
The time signature is wrong.
It is the first thing worth checking on a new chart. A song that is plainly in 4 sometimes comes back in 7/4 or 3/4, because the tracker works out the beat from what it can hear and a buried hi-hat can mislead it. If it is wrong, the chart is not worth correcting hit by hit; convert again or tell us the song.
Which level should I start on?
Backbone, more often than people expect. Kick and snare with one pattern per section will get you through the song tonight. Groove adds the hat and the easy fills once that is comfortable. Detailed and Full are there to grow into, and Full is a draft you are expected to edit.
How do I mute the original drummer?
Open the song in play-along and pull the drum fader down. Every conversion produces the drum part on its own and the same song without it, so the fader is moving between two real stems rather than filtering the mix. Pull it back up when you want to hear how the part was actually played.
Can I connect my electronic kit?
Yes, over USB with a camera adapter or over Bluetooth MIDI. Once connected, the hits you play appear on the chart as you play them. Bluetooth is used for nothing else.
Can I use the app without the internet?
Mostly. Charts you have already converted, editing, play-along and the whole practice shelf work in flight mode. Converting a new song needs a connection, because the separation and transcription run on a server rather than on your phone.
Do my charts disappear if I cancel Pro?
No. Charts you have made stay readable, editable and playable whether or not a subscription is running. Nothing in the app's chart storage checks your subscription before opening a file.
I bought credits and they are missing after a reinstall.
Use Restore Purchases first. If they still do not appear, write to us with roughly when you bought them and which product it was, and we will sort it out with Apple's receipt.
How do I cancel Pro?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. Open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and cancel there. You keep Pro until the current period ends.
I want the audio I sent erased.
Email us and say roughly when you used the app, and we will remove your material. Because there is no account we cannot find it from your name alone, so the timing helps.
When is DrumScribe coming to the App Store?
It is not released yet. Email us and we will let you know the day it is available.
