RenalPaw keeps your cat's CKD records on your device and your own private iCloud, shared only with caregivers you invite. The only time anything is sent to us is when you choose to generate an AI recheck brief. Here is exactly how it works.

RenalPaw ("the App") is published by Velora Health ("we", "us", "our"). For any privacy question or request, contact customer-care@velorahealth.io.
RenalPaw is a pet-care tracking tool. It is not a veterinary device and does not provide veterinary advice; IRIS stage estimates and alerts simply surface your own logged data against published reference thresholds. Always confirm with your veterinarian.
You can log information about your cat's chronic kidney disease (CKD):
About you, we use only: an anonymous Apple identifier from Sign in with Apple (used solely for the AI brief quota and caregiver sharing) and your subscription status from Apple. We do not collect your email, contacts, location, usage analytics or advertising identifiers.
Your logs, labs, medications, weight and any photos are stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData and synced through your own private iCloud (Apple CloudKit). This data resides in your personal Apple account; Velora Health cannot access it and operates no backend database that stores it. Any sign-in token is stored in the iOS Keychain.
If you invite another caregiver (for example a partner or pet-sitter), RenalPaw uses Apple's private CloudKit sharing so they can see and add to your cat's care. The shared data stays within Apple's iCloud between your accounts; it does not pass through or get stored on our servers. You can stop sharing at any time.
When you choose to generate a brief for your vet, the App sends a summary of your cat's data (profile, fluid sessions, lab trend and IRIS estimate, medication compliance, weight) over an encrypted TLS connection to our RenalPaw API (Google Cloud Run).
Our API is stateless: it forwards the summary to Anthropic (Claude), which writes the brief and returns it to your device. The data and the brief are not stored on our servers; the only record kept is a monthly usage count (your account identifier plus the month). Anthropic processes the request solely to generate the brief and, per its API terms, does not use API data to train its models. Every brief carries the note: "AI-generated summary of your own logged data - not veterinary advice."
Fluid, medication and recheck reminders, and any data-surfacing notes, are local notifications generated on your device from your own logs. They never make dosing, diet or treatment recommendations.
RenalPaw Pro is an auto-renewable subscription sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles all payment processing; we never receive or store your payment details.
We share data only with the providers needed to deliver these features:
RenalPaw contains no third-party analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs, and does not collect location.
The records live in your own device and iCloud, so you control them: delete entries in the App, or remove the App and its iCloud data to erase everything. You can also delete your account in the App, which removes the only record we hold - your monthly usage counter. Depending on where you live (e.g. GDPR, CCPA) you may have rights to access or delete personal data; contact us and we will help.
RenalPaw is intended for adult pet owners and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
If we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
