Flarewell keeps your logs, photos, scanned products and treatments entirely on your device. The only thing it sends out on its own is an approximate location, to look up the weather.

We do not collect any personal information. Flarewell does not require registration, login or any form of account, and we operate no servers that receive your data.
Everything you enter is stored only on your device. That includes:
Your data is stored in Flarewell's own storage on your iPhone using Apple's SwiftData framework, subject to iOS system-level encryption and protected by your device's passcode, Face ID or Touch ID.
Flarewell does not use iCloud, CloudKit or any other kind of sync, and it has no server of its own. Your data is not copied to other devices or to us.
If you add the Flarewell widget, the app keeps a small summary for it on your device: your logging streak, whether today is logged and your flush levels for the last seven days. The widget shows this on your Home Screen.
If you delete the app, its data and photos are removed from your device.
When you scan a product, Flarewell reads the ingredients list from your photo on your device using Apple's Vision framework. You can also paste or type an ingredients list instead. Label photos are not uploaded anywhere.
The ingredients are then checked on your device against rules built into the app. No ingredient text is sent to any server or AI service.
If you link a scan to a product on your skincare shelf, Flarewell can compare that product's ingredients with your daily log. This comparison also runs on your device.
Scan results are general information about ingredient types commonly reported to irritate rosacea-prone skin. They are not medical advice.
Flarewell can attach the day's weather and UV index to your log and show tomorrow's weather. To do this, the app asks for permission to use your location while you are using the app. When you open the app, it looks up today's weather and tomorrow's forecast, each at most once a day.
Flarewell asks iOS for an approximate location, at about kilometre accuracy, and sends those coordinates to Apple WeatherKit to get current and next-day weather. If WeatherKit is unavailable, the coordinates are sent to OpenWeather (openweathermap.org) instead. Only coordinates are sent, never your logs, symptoms, photos, scans or any other health information.
Apple's handling of WeatherKit requests is governed by Apple's privacy policy, and OpenWeather's by its own. Weather in the app is provided by Apple Weather, with data sources listed by Apple.
Location access is optional. If you decline, the rest of the app works normally and only weather is unavailable. You can also turn off Precise Location for Flarewell in iOS Settings.
Connecting Apple Health is optional and off until you turn it on. If you do, Flarewell asks for read access to sleep analysis only. Flarewell never writes any data to Apple Health.
The app reads last night's sleep and offers it on the Today screen. If you choose to use it, the number of hours is saved with that day's log on your device and included in the app's own pattern analysis, which also runs on your device.
Data read from Apple Health is not sent to us or to anyone else, is not used for advertising or marketing, and is not shared with third parties. You can remove access at any time in the Health app or in iOS Settings.
Flarewell uses the camera for two things: to photograph an ingredients label for the scanner, and, if you choose, to take skin photos for your daily log.
When you choose a photo from your library, Flarewell uses Apple's photo picker, which gives the app only the photos you select, not your whole library.
Skin photos and label thumbnails are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded to us or to any third party.
Every permission is optional. The rest of the app keeps working if you decline one.
On supported iPhones with Apple Intelligence turned on, Flarewell Premium can write a short weekly recap using Apple's on-device language model. It uses only your week's summary figures, such as days logged and average flush level, and it runs on your device.
Flarewell Premium is available as two auto-renewing subscriptions through Apple's App Store: Flarewell Premium Monthly and Flarewell Premium Yearly. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not receive, store or process any payment card information.
Subscription management, including cancellation, is handled through your Apple ID settings. Apple's privacy policy governs all payment-related data.
Flarewell contacts only these external services: Apple WeatherKit for weather, OpenWeather for weather only if WeatherKit is unavailable, and Apple's App Store for purchases. Flarewell does not integrate any analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs. We do not use:
The app keeps simple counts of how often features are used, for example how many scans were saved, in its settings on your device. These counts are never sent anywhere.
Nothing leaves your device unless you choose to share it. Two features let you do that: Share on a scan result creates a short text summary of that one product's result, and Export on the Report tab creates a PDF report for your dermatologist.
Both are generated entirely on your device and passed to iOS's native share sheet, which sends them wherever you choose, such as email, AirDrop or Files. They are not transmitted to or stored on any server operated by us.
Flarewell is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Because we collect no data from any users, this concern does not apply in practice, but we note it for completeness.
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
Because we do not collect or store any of your personal data on our systems, there is no data for us to provide, correct or delete on your behalf. All your data can be removed at any time by deleting the app from your device.
