Subscriptions & billing

Ember is free to start, with an optional Ember Pro subscription. The available plans are:

Ember Pro Monthly - $5.99/month, with a 7-day free trial
Ember Pro Yearly - $39.99/year

The free tier includes daily logging with recent history. Pro unlocks your full history, complete trends and correlations, the monthly AI Visit Brief and PDF export.

Where to find Pro in the app: Tap any locked chart or the Upgrade prompt (for example on the Brief tab) to open the subscription screen with the Monthly and Yearly options.

Manage or cancel your subscription

Restore a purchase (e.g. on a new device): open the paywall and tap Restore Purchases while signed in with the Apple ID you subscribed with.

All payments and renewals are handled by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Logging on bad days

Ember is built for low-energy days: the core log takes under 30 seconds one-handed, and "Bad day" mode records the essentials in two taps. Anything more detailed is optional.

The AI Visit Brief

Once a month you can generate a Visit Brief summarising your pain and fatigue trends, self-assessment scores, medications and likely patterns. A summary of your logs is sent to our AI service to write it, returned to your device, and not stored on our servers. Generating a brief uses Sign in with Apple. Every brief carries a "not medical advice" note.

Weather & Apple Health

Both are optional. Location is used only to fetch barometric pressure and temperature from OpenWeather. Apple Health (sleep, cycle, steps, HRV, resting heart rate) is read-only; manage access in iOS Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > Ember.

Your data & iCloud

Your logs are stored on your device and synced through your own private iCloud (CloudKit) - we run no server that stores them. To erase your data, delete entries in the app, or remove the app and its iCloud data. See our Privacy Policy.

Troubleshooting

My brief will not generate

Brief generation needs an internet connection and Sign in with Apple. If you have already generated one this calendar month, the next becomes available next month.

Weather pressure is not showing

Ember needs location permission and a connection to fetch weather. Check Settings > Ember > Location. The app works fully without it.

My data is not syncing between devices

Make sure both devices are signed into the same iCloud account with iCloud Drive on.

I subscribed but Pro is locked

Open the paywall and tap Restore Purchases while signed in with the Apple ID you used to subscribe.
Frequently asked

What are FIQR, WPI and SSS?

They are validated fibromyalgia self-assessment scales (the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire and the Widespread Pain Index / Symptom Severity Scale). Ember lets you complete them periodically and includes the results in your Visit Brief to discuss with your doctor.

Does weather really affect fibromyalgia?

Many people report pressure- or temperature-linked changes. Ember logs local pressure alongside your symptoms so you can see whether it is true for you.

What do I need to run Ember?

An iPhone on iOS 17 or later, and an iCloud account for sync.
